The invention relates to a setting device for fine adjustment of a second machine part which is movable in relation to a first machine part, for example for fine adjustment of a measuring device. To produce a setting device with small dimensions, which makes possible setting movements in the micrometre range, the invention envisages using a flexible, tensionally rigid element, which acts in the manner of an articulated lever, as a movement-reducing gear. This tensionally rigid element interconnects the two machine parts in the direction of movement and is clamped on both in a play-free and tensionproof manner. An actuator acts on the tensionally rigid element, which is pretensioned or has inherent rigidity, transversely to the connecting line between both clampings and preferably centrally.
