The invention carries the title >>Tandem vane motor<<. It describes an internal combustion engine in which the reciprocating pistons of conventional engines are replaced by two pairs of vanes, which are supported on a common shaft and function in only one direction of rotation. The movement of the pairs of vanes is controlled by way of an elliptical gear mechanism so that the intervals of the vanes of both pairs constantly vary. In this way four chambers sealed off from one another are produced in the engine compartment. Conversion of the forms of motion from a pulsating rotary motion of the pairs of vanes into a uniform rotary motion of the drive shaft is performed by way of a guide rail of the elliptical gear mechanism. The purpose of the invention is to improve the efficiency of internal combustion engines in that the pairs of vanes are supported on a shaft and moved without stopping in only one direction of rotation. <IMAGE>
