The carbonaceous fossil fuel is transported to a discharge platform and passes down a ramp incorporating a screen so that small pieces fall through the screen into hopper, while big pieces are carried by belt to hopper, passing under electro-magnet to remove ferrous impurities. The hopper empties into a primary jaw crusher. The crushed fuel passes into storage hopper along with the fuel which due to its size does not require grinding and is carried on belt.
