<p>The polyvinyl pyrrolidone can be used as solid particles or as an aq. or alcoholic soln., esp. in isopropanol, contg. at least 0.1(0.3-3)% polyvinyl pyrrolidone pref. having mol. wt. 5000-2000000 (13000-45000). Contaminated persons or articles are treated esp. by spraying with the solid particles or soln. The soln. can also be applied to the surface of the articles or persons by brushes, cloths or other devices. A contaminated atmos. is treated esp. with a mist of the soln. The polyvinyl pyrrolidone-contg. compsns. can be used on a large scale, e.g. by the fire brigade, emergency services or police, to fight NH3, combustion- and smoke gases, CO, etc. The compsns. can be prepd. in situ from concentrates, are non-toxic for man and animals and have no intrinsic smell.</p> |
