PURPOSE:To make tracking action at high accuracy even if a subject moves two-dimensionally and relatively in a picture by detecting automatically the moving position of a moving subject and moving range finding visual field following the movement of the subject. CONSTITUTION:A signal processing circuit 9 outputs color difference signals R-Y, B-Y to a tracking gate setting circuit 11 and range finding gate setting circuit 16. Output of the circuit 11 is supplied to a color detecting circuit 12, and the color of the subject is detected and stored in a memory 13. In the next 1 field, a newly extracted signal and a signal stored in the memory 13 are compared by a movement deciding circuit 14, and the existence of movement of the subject and the direction of movement when the subject is moving are detected. When there is movement, the circuit 11 is controlled by a gate moving circuit 15 and tracking visual field is moved. When tracking is completed, the range finding visual field set by the circuit 16 is set to the same relative position with the tracking visual field, and focus detection is made by an automatic focusing circuit 17, and the position of a focusing lens 1 is controlled by driving a motor M. |
