PURPOSE:To detect the variation in the major part of a magnetic characteristic of the soft magnetic material layer of the outer peripheral face of a torque transmitting shaft by constituting a vertical magnetic circuit against the shaft core direction of a torque transmitting shaft with a soft magnetic layer and magnetic core. CONSTITUTION:A variation is caused on a magnetic circuit constituted of by a soft magnetic body layer 12 and magnetic core 15 and the inductance of a coil 16 is reduced in accordance with the increase in the torque, when a distortion stress is generated on the soft magnetic body layer 12 with the application of a torque on a torque transmitting shaft 11. There is a corresponding relation of one to one between the torque and inductance thereof and a torque can be found easily. The value of 2-3 times of the inductance value measured by an open magnetic path is shown, due to the magnetic circuit for detecting a torque forming a closed magnetic path. A torque can be thus detected with good accuracy and due to the formation of a closed magnetic path a magnetic effect as well is hard to be taken from others. |
