PURPOSE:To simplify the mechanism of a paper feeder as well as to raise the reliability of the feeding operation of papers with easy controllability and without any dispersion in the feeding papers with fine pitch by providing a paper feeder having variable line feeding pitch and a fine pitch paper feeder. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 4 is moved to the left by the feeding amount of the carriage which corresponds to a fine feeding pitch, and a pulse motor 3 is normally turned, thereby permitting the feeding of papers by the fine feeding pitch to be performed. When the carriage 4 is also moved to the left further beyond the feeding amount corresponding to the fine feeding pitch and then moved to the right, papers can be fed correspondingly to the moving amounts when papers are fed by as much as distance as the feeding pitch corresponding to the moving amount. In short, the turning amount for one gear of an inner ratchet 18c corresponds with the first pitch, that for two gears corresponds with the second pitch, and that for three gears corresponds with the third pitch. |
