PURPOSE:A composition useful for protecting the skin, etc., stable to decomposition, preservable and usable stably for a long period, having no toxic action, obtained by blending an aqueous solution of a protein hydrolyzate with a specific ratio of propylene glycol as an antiseptic and antimicrobial agent. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of protein hydrolyzate having about 500- about 5,000mol.wt. is blended with >=15wt%, preferably >=30wt% (especially 70wt%) calculated as content of a total composition propylene glycol. The content of the protein hydrolyzate in the composition is 10-60wt%, generally 20- 60wt%. A hydrolyzate obtained by hydrolyzing an animal protein such as collagen, casein, gelatin, etc. or a vegetable protein such as soybean protein, etc. with an acid or an alkali, or by enzymatic hydrolysis using a protease, is used as the protein hydrolyzate, and a hydrolyzate of particularly an animal protein, especially of collagen protein is preferable. |
