PURPOSE:To reduce the quantity of hardware for storage of control information and to secure the extensionality to an increase request, by correcting the control information on a device of an information processing system after confirming the working of said device and incorporating the control information to the system. CONSTITUTION:The connection is secured previously among a disk controller 7 to be increased, a disk device 10 and connection buses 106 and 109-111. The system resource state control information is stored in a local memory 5. When an initialization program is loaded at the rise of this system, a system controller 1 uses a diagnosis path 201 to check the constitution of a real device. Then a working confirmation area in case a device and a path included in the system resource state control information are detected. Then a working confirmation program for increase device is taken out of the memory 5 and loaded to a memory device 4. When the program is through normally, the information within said working confirmation area is added to the system resource state control information.
