PURPOSE:To obtain a polyurethane foam having improved flame retardance, heat resistance and low smoking properties, by adding an iron compound to a stock solution consisting of a specific hydroxy compound and polyisocyanate, and polymerizing the resultant mixture. CONSTITUTION:(C) A soluble iron compound in an amount of 0.05-10wt% expressed in terms of iron element is added to a production stock solution of (A) a polyhydroxy compound containing (i) >=3wt% aromatic polyester polyol derived from an aromatic compound consisting of an aromatic polyfunctional carboxylic acid, carboxylic acid anhydride and/or carboxylic acid ester and (ii) >=3wt% organosilicon based surfactant consisting of an organopolysiloxane- polyoxyalkylene copolymer or polyalkenylsiloxane having polyoxyalkylene side chain and (B) a polyisocyanate as main production raw materials. The resultant mixture is then polymerized to give the aimed foam.
