The invention relates to a heating boiler with an electrically operated burner for oil-firing or gas-firing and a control device, which switches the ignition and the fuel supply, with a malfunction indication device, the switching member of which is a selenium cell which reacts to the light of the burner flame. The invention consists in that there is additionally connected to the control device of the burner a pre-warning device which can be adjusted to the smoke gas temperature and which consists of a thermostat which is arranged on the smoke gas offtake, measures the smoke gas temperature and can be adjusted to a given smoke gas temperature, and of one or more optical signal elements connected to the switching current line of the thermostat and/or an acoustic signal element.
