In a method and device for mounting an apparatus on the underside of a bridge, which apparatus is provided with a pivotable working platform and whose frame is movable with the working platform pivoted out along a bridge parapet by means of a preferably single-track chassis running on the bridge and is held by a plurality of support wheels or rollers which roll along the underside of the bridge, according to the invention the support wheels or rollers are initially placed and held against the underside of the bridge by raising the frame with the working platform folded on before the securing of the frame is completed by fitting on the chassis, and the working platform is then pivoted out.
