In a dowel-hole drilling machine, the drilling slide (16) carrying the drilling unit (17) is connected to a lifting device (12) and is mounted on the latter in such a way that it can be displaced horizontally by hand. Thus each bore (4) can be approached quickly and easily in the same set-up of the workpiece (3), which makes itself felt advantageously in particular in the case of complicated and frequently varying drilling patterns in planting pegs, abutments, house doors, etc. <IMAGE>
