PURPOSE:To move an automobile in the direction of its width, by providing retractable auxiliary wheels for sideward movement. CONSTITUTION:When pressure oil is supplied to a hydraulic cylinder 16, the cylinder is shifted from a contracted state to an elongated state and a roller 19 is moved on a curved guide surface 20 to slightly lift an axle 8 to separate a normally moving wheel 7 from the ground. Four auxiliary wheels 12 for sideward movement are thus all put on the ground. Hydraulic motors 14 are rotated to move an automobile sidewards to smoothly put it into or out of a garage whose entrance extends in the longitudinal direction thereof. At that time, the revolution sped of each auxiliary wheel 12 is determined by the quantity of the depression of an accelerator pedal.
