PURPOSE:To manufacture inexpensively a porous body superior in mechanical strength by plating while applying magnetic field from outer part a surface of a base body to be plated in a plating liquid in which magnetic powders are dispersed, and forming the porous body on the surface to be plated. CONSTITUTION:The base body 16 to be plated is attached so that the opening hole part at the side of an electroless plating vessel 17 is closed therewith, and a permanent magnet 18 is provided near the opposite surface of the plating surface 16a of the body 16 movably, reciprocally and periodically. Next, the plating liquid 19 in which magnetic powders are dispersed is charged in the vessel 17, the magnet 18 is periodically moved back and forth, and the electroless plating is applied to the body 16 while the liquid 19 is stirred. In this way, the porous layer in which magnetic powders are joined firmly with each other is formed on the inner surface 16a of the body 16. The porous layer is peeled off and the porous body is obtained.
