The trough, which is impermeable to light, has at the top, recesses or resilient ports which permit insertion of the seedlings. A continuous top slotted part is supported on guides. The plastics trough (1) has a bottom (2), side walls (3,4), and front and rear walls (5,6). The trough has an inlet and an outlet (7,8). A liquid plant feed mixture is pumped from a tank (29) by a pump (9) through the inlet (7) and the trough to an overflow and outlet (5) into the top (30) of the supply tank. The arrangement excludes light entry into the closed circulating cycle. The seedlings are inserted into plastics foam blocks (15) or mineral wool. |
