PURPOSE:To obtain a vertically magnetizable recording medium which permits the manufacture of a thin high-permeability magnetic film layer having small coercive force Hc in the state of a low base body temp. and has excellent recording and reproducing efficiency by providing a thin Ti film layer as an underlying film for the thin high-permeability magnetic film layer. CONSTITUTION:The thickness of the thin high-permeability magnetic film layer 3 is set at 0.2-1.0mum in order to decrease the magnetic resistance of a vertical magnetic head 20 to magnetic flux and to increase substantially the recording efficiency to a vertically magnetizable recording layer 5. The thin Ti film layer 2 is deposited by evaporation so as to have >=300Angstrom film thickness, by which the manufacture of the Fe-Ni alloy film having the small coercive force, i.e., the layer 3 at the lower temp. is made possible. The layer 2 has the possibility of generating a crack, etc. if said layer is too thick and therefore the film thickness is preferable <=1,000Angstrom in practicality.
