PURPOSE:To make a device body small-sized considerably and to copy even thick originals by disconnecting a platen for sheet originals and a platen for thick originals from the device body and setting them to a supporting base and driving a driving roll and a driving rotating member to move them. CONSTITUTION:A device hole 14 to which a frame-shaped platen 13 for sheet originals is fitted freely attachably and detachably is formed in a supporting base 12 formed in the end part of the device body, and a platen 16 for thick originals which replaces the platen 13 for sheet originals and is set to the supporting base 12 has block rails 24 which are engaged with a pair of right and left dovetail grooves parallel with each other formed on the supporting base 12, and the platen 16 for thick originals is moved on the supporting base 12 by the driving rotation of a pinion 25. Nip rolls 15 under the platen 13 for sheet originals are rotated in accordance with the rotation of a driving roll 27, which have the same shaft as the pinion as one body, and hold a sheet original between themselves and carry it. Since these platens can be separated from the device body, the device body is made small-sized considerably.
