PURPOSE:To set easily adequate reproducing conditions regardless of the kind of an org. dye recording material to be used for a recording medium in the stage of reproducing information from an optical information recording medium having the recording layer contg. an org. dye by setting the intensity of reproducing light at <=1/8 the intensity of recording light. CONSTITUTION:The intensity of the reproducing light is set at <=1/8 the intensity of the recording light in the stage of reproducing information from the optical information recording medium having the recording layer contg. the org. dye. The number of reproduction to the deterioration of reproduction by the reproducing light when recording is made by laser light having 790nm wavelength on the recording medium having the recording layer consisting of the cyanine dye expressed by, for example, the formula and having 500Angstrom film thickness is considerably improved when the intensity is set at 1/8 as compared to 1/6.
