The heat exchanger has an accumulator with two sheet metals (2, 3, 4), which are adjacent to one another and soldered with one another. Dimensions of sections (12, 13, 14) of the individual sheet metals differ in a direction of sheet metal levels. The sections are arranged in such a manner that projections of the smaller sections lie with respect to the direction of different dimensions within the projection of largest sections. The sections are formed in a square. An independent claim is also included for a device for the assembly of accumulator in prefabricated construction for a heat exchanger.
