PURPOSE:To obtain a photovoltaic element having good photoelectric conversion, and high bonding strength between a photoactive layer and a substrate by using a phthalocyanine compound to be dissolved in organic solvent with solubility with resin. CONSTITUTION:Phthalocyanine compound represented by the formula I is used for an active layer. In this formula, Pc is phthalocyanine residue, L is alkylene group, R is hydrogen or lower alkyl group, and (n) is 1 or more integer number. The compound of this configuration has high dissolution with solvent and preferably dissolved in organic solvent. Then, it is readily polymerized or crosslinked by electron beam, ultraviolet ray or X-ray. Thus, after formed as coated film, it may be polymerized or crosslinked. Therefore, a photovoltaic element using the compound can omit the step of dispersing the phthalocyanine. Since no irregular dispersion exists, high photoelectric conversion efficiency can be obtained. |
