A flame monitor is described for burners, especially in heating appliances such as motor vehicle auxiliary heating devices, which makes possible contactless flame monitoring and in which the noises arising during the reaction in the flame are used for flame monitoring. For this purpose, a connection is provided from the combustion chamber to a sensor which provides voltage signals at the output in dependence on the noises produced; the said signals can if necessary be filtered by means of a filter for the suppression of interference frequencies. An air-borne sound sensor is expediently used as the sensor, which is formed by a microphone or a pressure sensor, and the connection can be produced via a bore and/or via a flexible duct. |
