<p>PURPOSE:To improve the basic unit of electric power by utilizing inexpensive pulverized coal as a source for heat energy besides electric power in common use and by properly combining them. CONSTITUTION:When scraps are melted in an arc furnace, arc heating and heating with a pulverized coal burner are combinedly carried out. Pulverized coal is burned while feeding air to the burner until the scraps in the furnace are heated to a high temp., and when the temp. of the scraps exceeds 500 deg.C, oxygen is fed to burn pulverized coal. After heating the scraps to 1,300-1,400 deg.C, only arc heating is carried out.</p> |
