PURPOSE:To eliminate the sense of incompatibility of the handle operation immediately after the running start by controlling the current value applied to the solenoid of a steering characteristic changing means at 0 or lower than a target value until a car travels a preset distance or for a preset running time after the power supply is turned on. CONSTITUTION:After the power supply is turned on, when a car starts running and an output pulse is generated from a car speed sensor 50 for every unit distance traveled, an interrupt signal is outputted, and the counter of CPU55 counts the running distance. The software processing for detecting the handle neutral position is concurrently performed based on the output of an encoder detecting the handle turn angle (not shown in the figure) within the time until the counted value becomes larger than a preset distance. Accordingly, the current value subtracted from a target value calculated based on the turn sngle signal fo a handle turn angle sensor 51 is fed from an output section 57 to solenoids 28, 38. When the said counted value becomes larger than the preset distance, the current value in response to the said target value if fed to the solenoids. |
