The stringed instrument, typically a double bass, has a bridge resting on a soundbox, with an electrical pick-up and avoids distortion due to non-uniform amplification of some harmonics and parasitics. The soundbox is made long and narrow and is divided into two by an internal partition located under the bridge. The sound-box (1) has a trapezium shape and is fixed to the neck holder (6) by a removable connection. The underside of the strings is supported by a comb (9) above the bridge and the partition.
