PURPOSE:To provide superior suitability to ridging by heating a slab at a temp. just below the Ac3 transformation point before heating to decompose a martensite phase into a ferrite phase and carbide. CONSTITUTION:A ferritic stainless steel slab contg. >=10% Cr is hot rolled, annealed as required, and cold rolled to manufacture a stainless steel sheet or steel strip. At this time, the slab is held at 700 deg.C - the Ac3 transformation point for >=2hr to decompose a martensite phase into a ferrite phase and carbide, and it is hot rolled. |
