PURPOSE:To obtain the active component of essential oil, easily and arbitrarily, in high yield, under controlled conditions, by culturing the slice of a specific vegetable in liquid to effect the embryonic induction of adventive bud, and collecting the essential oil component produced and accumulated in the adventive bud. CONSTITUTION:The slice of a vegetable belonging to Pelargonium genus, Geranium genus, Ruta genus, Anethum genus, Mentha genus, Salvia genus, Viora genus and Melissa genus, the slice of the differentiated tissue culture product, or the secondary culture product obtained by the culture of the above slices, is cultured in a liquid medium, and the objective active component of essential oil is separated from the adventive bud obtained by the embryonic induction.
