PRODUCTION OF CONNECTING ROD

摘要

PURPOSE:To produce a lightweight connecting rod at a good yield with high productivity by forming a blank connecting rod material consisting of a Ti alloy to an intermediate blank material by rotary forming and forming the intermediate blank material to the connecting rod by hermetic or closed forging. CONSTITUTION:The round bar blank material consisting of the Ti alloy is worked by a rotary forming machine of a cross rolling type using two roll dies to form the intermediate blank material 1 shaped to have the volume distribution approximate to the shape of the connecting rod to be manufactured. Such material 1 is then installed to the lower die of a closed forging device and is subjected to the closed forging by lowering an upper die, by which the connecting rod is formed. The material yield is improved and the production cost is reduced by the above-mentioned method.
