PURPOSE:To obtain a video camera which has a good color saturation even in a low illuminance by reducing the level of a burst signal with a variable control means when the open state of a stop of a lens is detected by an aperture value detector. CONSTITUTION:An optical lens aperture value detector 15 monitors the stop of an optical lens 1, and the detection signal is sent to a burst signal varying device 14 when the stop is set to the open state. Though the burst signal varying device 14 sends normally the burst signal from a synchronizing signal generator 13 to a burst signal superposer 11 in the through state, the device 14 reduce, the level of the burst signal by a prescribed quantity when the detection signal from the optical lens aperture value detector 15 is sent. Consequently, the level of the burst signal in an NTSC composite video signal 17 is reduced at this time, and the color saturation is improved only when the stop of the optical lens 1 is opened (that is, only when the video camera is operated in a low illuminance).
