NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula. The dihydrate has the following characteristics. Melting point, 105-130 deg.C (decomposition); molecular weight, 575; elemental analysis, C 43.46%, H 6.31%, N 16.12%; molecular formula, C22H37N7O11.2H2O; [alpha]D<25>=-44.5 deg. (c=1, H2O). USE:Angiotensine-I conversion enzyme inhibitor, and hypotensor. PREPARATION:A foroxymithin-producing strain belonging to Streptomyces genus [e.g. Streptomyces nitrosporeus (FERM P-7244), Streptomyces zaomyceticus (FERM P-7243), etc.] is cultured in a medium containing known nutrients, preferably at 25-35 deg.C, usually under aerobic condition for 48-192hr, in a jar or under shaking to obtain the substance of formula.
