PURPOSE:The titled composition having excellent stability and little dependence of viscosity on the shear rate, containing an emulsion of a (co)polymer of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer or a diene monomer wherein a PVA polymer is used as an emulsifying agent, and a water-soluble polymer. CONSTITUTION:A water-soluble polymer, preferably an unmodified PVA, a PVA modified with a carboxylic acid, a cation or a hydrophobic group, methylcellulose, etc., is mixed with an emulsion of a homopolymer or a copolymer of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer and/or a diene monomer, using, as an emulsifying agent, a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer containing a mercapto group, prepared by the saponification, in the presence of a thiolic acid, of a polyvinyl ester polymer obtained by polymerizing a vinyl monomer consisting mainly of a vinyl ester monomer, to give an objective emulsion. |
