In a carriage superstructure, in particular for railway carriages for passenger transport, a carriage body structure is formed from side walls and end walls (2) and roof (3). The said structure forms an outer structure plane (14) for the carriage superstructure (R), which plane (14) is covered by an outer shell (16) and an inner lining (52), insulating material (15) being arranged between outer shell (16), inner lining (52) and the structure plane (14). The outer shell plates (16) are connected on the one hand loosely via spacing elements (17a) which engage in grooves (21) of a profile (22, 38, 45) which is fixed to the carriage superstructure or outer structure plane (14) and are on the other hand releasably connected to the structure plane (14) via other spacing elements or held by holders (19a, b), attached to profiles (4, 6, 12) of the carriage superstructure, with intermediately positioned insulation (20a, b). <IMAGE>
