The known method for time-amplitude conversion, which is used particularly in the case of flying-time measurements, can be implemented for voltage-rise rates up to approximately 100V/ mu s using a very simple circuit arrangement if a capacitor is charged from a current source which, as the active component, contains the output transistor of an ECL gate of the ECL III or ECL 10000 families. A resistor, which is connected in series with an auxiliary-voltage source, is connected upstream of the emitter of the output transistor, while the collector is connected to the capacitor and may be at potentials between +5 V and -3 V. In this case, the normal 0 V and -5.2 V supply voltages for ECL circuits are maintained.
