PURPOSE:To prevent loss owing to overcurrent and to improve wear resistance, etc. by using a magnetic oxide material having a specific value or above of specific resistance to the magnetic core parts of a composite type magnetic head and constituting the magnetic gap of a magnetic metallic material. CONSTITUTION:The core parts 1 of the magnetic head are formed of the magnetic oxide material 2 consisting of Mn0.6Zn0.4Fe2.0O4, Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe0.2O4, etc. having >=100OMEGA.cm specific resistance. A notch for regulating the track width is provided near the gap 3 of the thin magnetic metallic films 2, 2 sandwiched by the core parts 1, 1 and a non-magnetic guard material 4 such as high-hardness glass is packed into the notch. The film 2 is constituted by using a metallic material having high satd. magnetic flux density such as an amorphous magnetic alloy consisting of >=1 kinds among Fe, Co and Ni and P, C, B, Si. The corrosion of the film 2 which may arise as a result of the battery formed by the potential difference to be generated between the film 2 and the core 1 is suppressed by the high specific resistance of the core part 1 in the above-mentioned manner, by which the life of the head is extended. |
