PURPOSE:To grasp simply the operation of a master unit by discriminating whether a master unit using a bus at present coincides with a specified master unit or not, and tracing data on the basis of the discriminated result. CONSTITUTION:A bus level specification part 97 and a comparison part 98 are formed in a data tracing device 9. The bus level specification part 97 holds a bus using level corresponding to a master unit to execute tracing specified from the external through an operation part 95 and the comparison part 98 compares the specified bus level with a bus using permission signal outputted to a system 1. Only when the permission signal corresponding to the specified bus level is detected, the signal on the system bus 1 is inputted through a bus interface part 91 and stored in a trace buffer 92.
