NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula (R is amino acid side chain constituting polypeptide derived from silk protein; n is 3-20). USE:A compounding agent for hair cosmetic. Preventing damage caused by a surface active agent, providing the hair with high flexibility and natural luster. PREPARATION:An aqueous solution of 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride is added dropwise to an aqueous solution of a silk protein derived polypeptide obtained by hydrolyzing a protein constituting silk, the reaction system is kept preferably at 9-11, and they are reacted usually at <=60 deg.C.
