DEVICE FOR SUPPORTING PLATEN COVER OF COPYING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To prevent local exertion of undue stress on a platen cover by forming the base part of a platen cover holder freely turnably relative to the body of a copying machine so that the platen cover can be opened, closed and turned relative to the original imposing part of the copying machine. CONSTITUTION:The 1st tongue-shaped part 8 and the 2nd tongue-shaped part 9 are pressed by the top surface part of the platen cover 4 and are thereby deformed successively to a bow shape when the operator opens gradually the cover 4 from the closed state shown in the figure. The part 9 is more deflected toward the arrow H direction than the part 8 by the force that the cover 4 tries to deflect toward the arrow K direction when the cover is opened to the final turning position. The cover 4 is eventually held open in the state of being supported at the two points B and C where the cover is pressed to the top end 8b of the part 8 and the top end 9b of the part 9 by the balance between the elastic recovering forces of the parts 8, 9. The cover 4 is thus kept free from a permanent deformation and crack even after long-period use.
