<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption in a device that traps particles in the exhaust smoke by a porous and heat-resistant trapper by employing multiple, dispersed electrical resistor type heaters as ignitor which is activated at the time of regenerating the trapper. CONSTITUTION:In an embodiment of a dual cylinder type trapping device having two separate trappers 2, the trappers 2 made of cordierite ceramic foam etc. are housed in each tubular part of a central tube 12 which has covers 11, 13 respectively having an inlet 111 and an outlet 131 and comprises two tubular parts. A heater 31 which is made of folded nichrome wire and an ignitor 3 comprising a ceramic honeycomb retainer 32 and a terminal 33 are disposed on the upstream side surface of each trapper 2. Where a heater 31 has a group of multiple nichrome wire heater elements (three, for instance) which are connected in series, a trapper 2 will have heaters 31 of multiple groups, for instance four groups, 12 heater elements altogether.</p> |
