The chimney cowl keeps the draught under control in flues independently of the wind direction, having a deflector with central opening from which a top surface slopes downwards. Coaxially above the first deflector (1) is a second one (2) without a central opening, there being a narrowed passage between them and above the central opening in the bottom one. Thus gases rising through this opening are accelerated. - The passage can be formed by a rounded deflector plate on the underside of the top deflector and convex towards the bottom one.
