An individually controllable speaker device according to the present invention, which is connected to a speaker line branched from a public addressing apparatus and transmits a sound, comprises: a speaker unit transmitting a sound corresponding to an audio output signal outputted from the public addressing apparatus; a switch unit connecting the speaker line and the speaker unit or disconnecting the speaker line and the speaker line; and a controller controlling the switch unit or detecting a reference audio output signal transmitted to the speaker unit and transmitting a detection result to the public addressing apparatus, according to a control code extracted from the audio output signal. As a result, according to a public addressing system using the individually controllable speaker device and a speaker device control method of the present invention, since a plurality of speaker devices used in the public addressing system are individually turned on or off or a connection state thereof is diagnosed, an area in which addressing is to be made can be effectively designated and maintenance and repair can be simplified. |
