A shaped outer covering is made by prepg. a powder mixt. from at least 2 powdery, differently coloured resins, in any desired ratio, and heating the mixt. in a pre-heated mould, in which the mixt. melts, so that there is obtd. after cooling a shaped covering with a speckled or pepper-and-salt pattern in different colours on the outer surface. The resins may be the same or different. Vinyl chloride (co) polymers are pref. Partic., one of the resins is PVC, and the other(s) vinyl chloride copolymers. The resins may have different m.pt., esp. 160-220 deg.C. The powdered resins may have grains of differing dia., partic. 50-200 microns.
