PURPOSE:To obtain the titled mixture containing a mixture of polybasic aminocarboxylic acids, by reacting an organic compound containing at least two amino or imino groups with a carboxylate in a nonaqueous solvent, hydrolyzing the ester part. CONSTITUTION:A compound shown by the formula I (R is bifunctional group which may contain one or more groups shown by the formula II; R1-R5 are H, alkyl, etc.) is reacted with an ester shown by the formula III (R6 and R7 are H, or lower alkyl; R8 is H, cyano, or lower alkyl; X is single bond, or bifunctional lower alkyl; R9 is lower alkyl which may be replaced) in a nonaqueous solvent (e.g., methanol), and the ester part is hydrolyzed to give an ampholyte mixture containing a mixture of polybasic aminocarboxylic acids. The ampholyte mixture is useful as an ampholytic carrier suitable for fraction and analysis of high polymer ampholyte such as especially protein, etc., and also excellent with respect to separation ability, decoloring properties, and dialyzing properties. |
