A locking structure for hammers of ball-calibre weapons of tilting design, by means of which a rearward-directed movement of the firing bolt (15, 18), caused by the pressures of the charge gases, and penetration, caused thereby, of detonator material from the side of the breech base (23) into the hole (19) of the firing bolt (15, 18) is prevented when its weapon is fired. The locking structure consists of a supporting fork (30), which is fitted to the ram (12) of the breech (10) of the weapon and is designed in such a manner that it is moved into the locking position (30') by the force of a spring (13) when the weapon is fired. In this locking position, the supporting part of the supporting fork (30) rests against the hammer and locks the hammer (24a, 24b) in the forward position and hence prevents the tip (18) of the firing bolt (15) being displaced backwards by the force of the charge gases. When the weapon is levelled, the supporting fork (30) pivots, thanks to the close-tolerance fit (29) between the ram (12) of the breech (10) and the supporting fork (30), into the upper position in such a manner that the hammer or hammers (24a, 24b) of the firing bolt can be cocked without hindrance.
