PURPOSE:To correct a format which is generated by mistake without spoiling card data which is already inputted by easily updating the display or storage contents of the fixed part of a format during card formation. CONSTITUTION:A mode switch part 60 is provided for switching between the 1st mode in which cursor movement only in individual fields on a card image is allowed and the 2nd mode in which the movement to a field other than said fields is allowed. A cursor is positioned invariably in a field in the 1st mode according to the information of a field definition information buffer 33 relating to the contents of a format buffer 31 during the card formation. Further, the cursor movement is not limited in case the 2nd mode as the case of initial definition as to a format and scrolling control is performed when necessary.
