PURPOSE:To obtain a nonmagnetic metallic belt for drive having superior strength and a high coefft. of thermal expansion and also having superior corrosion resistance by manufacturing a belt in specified stages using an alloy having a specified composition. CONSTITUTION:The composition of a steel is composed of, by weight, <0.3% C, 0.2-1% N (C+N>0.4), 10-30% Cr, 10-3% Mn and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The steel is subjected to soln. heat treatment at 950-1,200 deg.C and cold or warm rolling. The resulting plate is formed into a belt by etching or press working to manufacture a nonmagnetic metallic belt for driving. Aging may be carried out at 100-650 deg.C before or after the forming stage.
