PURPOSE:To improve image qualities, such as sharpness, graininess, and color reproducibility, and to enhance storage stability, by incorporating a specified compd. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive material contains a compd. represented by formula I in which (A) is an org. residue reacting with the essential oxidation product of a developing agent and then releasing groups except (A); CONT is a group capable of releasing the group combining with N after the release from (A); Z is an atomic group for forming a 4-7 membered usatd. hetero ring together with an N atom; PUG is group contg. a hetero atom, such as N, S, or O, and combining with an methylene group through said hetero atom, and exhibiting a photographic action when this bond is cleft in development; and n is 0 or 1. Such a compd. is allowed to diffuse by the reaction with the essential oxidation product of a developing agent. Although one bond formed by the reaction is severed, the molecule is not divided therefore, it is not changed in mol.wt., and it favors enhancement of diffusivity. The use of such a compd. enhances MTF values of low and high frequency regions to obtain superior sharpness. Even when it is subjected to hydrolysis due to the lapse of time, since a development inhibitor is not released, sensitivity is not deteriorated. |
