PURPOSE:To obtain a stable output even at the time of operation, by positioning a point which supports a head with pushing force, in an area closer to the disk flowing out side than a main pivot. CONSTITUTION:The floppy disk device of this invention is provided with a sub- pivot 12 supported by a spring in addition to a main pivot 7 and its head supporting point is positioned in an area closer to the disk flowing out end than the main pivot 7. The pressure distribution of the head contacting surface is that shown in the figure and pushing force is obtained over the entire surface of a head. Moreover, the pressure distribution does not fluctuate much and is extensively uniform. Therefore, stabilized contact can be obtained between the head and a disk not only in the stopping time, but also in the operating time. Accordingly, stable contact between the head and disk can be obtained even in the operating time and sufficient recording and reproducing characteristics can be assured.
