For shutting off a pressurised conduit (1) in the case of a fracture, a moving valve member (3B) can be actuated via a piston (3C) by the medium in the pressurised conduit (1). In this arrangement, the piston (3C) is acted upon directly by the medium on one side and, on the other side, with the interposition of an accumulator (5), which is connected to the pressurised conduit (1) via a non-return valve (10).
