PURPOSE:To enhance mordanting performance and to stabilize the mordanted dye against light by incorporating a polymer having specified >=2 kinds of repeating structural units as a mordant. CONSTITUTION:The polymer to be used as a mordant has repeating units represented by formula I and at least one of repeating units represented by formulae II-IV. In formulae I -IV, R1, R2, and R3 are each H or 1-6C alkyl; L is a 1-20C bivalent bonding group; m is 0 or 1; R4 is alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl; R5, R6 are each H, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, or aralkyl; D is a bivalent bonding group necessary to form a 5-7 membered ring together with N and a carbonyl group; and n, p, and q are each 0 or 1. Such a polymer is used for fixing an imagewisely diffused dye, and it is added alone or in combination with a binder into a mordant layer. The use of such a mordant permits all of cyan, magenta, and yellow dyes to attain high transfer density without deteriorating fasteness under light irradiation.
