PURPOSE:To increase the force for removing toner from the recording medium and improve cleaning performance by arranging an electrostatic charging member in a circulation path of carriers, and charging the carriers to the opposite polarity of the charging polarity of toner by the friction between the member and the carrier. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve 1 rotates to convey carriers 12 while attracting them to the peripheral surface of the sleeve, but the carriers are rubbed against a doctor 6 in the middle of the conveyance and further rubbed against the electrostatically charging member 5 on the wall of a case 9. The carriers 12 are rubbed against the electrostatically charging member 5 sufficiently because they are raised by a magnet 10b in a nap shape. Consequently, the carriers 12 are electrostatically charged to the opposite polarity of the toner 4, and when the magnetic brush 3 formed of the electrostatically charged carriers 12 is swept on the recording medium 2, the toner 4 is attracted thereto with electrostatic attractive force and removed from the recording medium 2. |
